La question culturelle dans l’adoption internationale
La revue de la littérature internationale sur l’adoption révèle que l’identité dite ethnique des enfants adoptés représente un thème récurrent des recherches anglo-saxonnes, alors qu’elle est absente des recherches françaises. Cet article présente une revue critique du concept d’identité ethnique, l’inscrivant dans le contexte culturel et politique américain, et le déconstruisant à partir des approches postcoloniales. La recherche anglo-saxonne a cependant le mérite de soulever la question des appartenances culturelles multiples et de la construction identitaire des enfants adoptés, question qui représente de fait une préoccupation des familles que nous recevons en clinique. Dans cet article, nous proposons de conceptualiser l’identité des enfants adoptés comme multiple, plurielle et profondément subjective, en nous appuyant sur les concepts de métissage de Marie Rose Moro et de François Laplantine.
The culture question in international adoption
The international literature review concerning international adoption reveals ethnic identity as a recurrent theme in Anglo-Saxon research, while it is absent from French research. This article proposes a critical revue of the ethnic identity concept, relating it to the historical and political context of the US and deconstructing it from a postcolonial perspective. Anglo-Saxon research has the advantage of addressing the adoptive children’s multiple cultural belongings and identity construction, which represent preoccupations of consulting adoptive families. In this article, we propose to define the adoptive children’s identity as multiple, plural and subjective, using Moro’s and Laplantine’s “métissage” (mixing) concept.
La cuestión cultural en la adopción internacional
La revisión de la literatura internacional sobre la adopción revela que la identidad llamada étnica de los niños adoptados representa un tema recurrente de las investigaciones anglosajonas, pero ausente de las investigaciones francesas. Este artículo presenta una revisión crítica del concepto de identidad étnica, inscribiéndolo en el contexto cultural y político americano, y deconstruyéndolo a partir de abordajes post-coloniales. La investigación anglosajona tiene, sin embargo, el mérito de cuestionarse sobre las afiliaciones culturales múltiples y sobre la construcción identitaria de los niños adoptados, cuestión que representa de hecho una preocupación de las familias que consultan en la clínica. En este articulo, proponemos una conceptualización de la identidad de los niños adoptados como múltiple, plural y profundamente subjetiva, apoyándonos en los conceptos de mestizaje de Marie Rose Moro y de François Laplantine.
